How to Calculate 18% GST (Official CBIC Formula)

Use these exact mathematical equations to compute 18% tax forward or backward:

1. Add 18% GST (Tax Exclusive)

GST (18%) = Base Amount × 0.18
Total Payable = Base Amount × 1.18

Example: For a ₹5,000 freelance design project: GST = 5,000 × 0.18 = ₹900. Total invoice amount = ₹5,900.

2. Remove 18% GST (Tax Inclusive)

Base Price = Total Amount ÷ 1.18
GST Extracted = Total Amount - Base Price

Example: For a ₹5,900 retail bill: Base Price = 5,900 ÷ 1.18 = ₹5,000. GST component = ₹900.
